It has been a slow start to the butterfly season here in Michigan. Cloudy, rainy, and cold to cool weather has been the norm. It adds up to poor butterflying. Having said that, some decent sightings have occurred. My son, David, found 2 Early Hairstreaks (Erora lactus) at an undisclosed location in Emmet County. While my luck has not been as good, I have been able to locate 15 species, including 3 species of elfins (Eastern Pine, Brown, and Hoary) and Chryxus Arctic (Oeneis chyrxus).
We have a 3 day weekend coming up, so I hope to get out and look for a few more species.
