Butterfly Counts

Recently I attend three butterfly counts. Two in Michigan and 1 in Noble County, Indiana.
If you have not joined a count, you should. Counts are a way to meet fellow butterfliers and get information about butterflies you are looking for. Plus they are just plain fun.

On July 6, I met my friend Jack Reinoehl at Gratiot / Saginaw SGA for a count. We did pretty well overall. Some pleasant surprises included Gray Comma, Harvester, Coral Hairstreak.

More than butterflies show up on counts. This Blue Racer was an exciting find while looking for Silver-boardered Fritillary.
